WOW!! Another great design / installation chosen as one of the best in the "world" for 2006!! This could not have been a more perfect application of a quality New England comfort system. Viega radiant floor heating - Tekmar TN4 control system - Weil McLain Ultra modulating gas boiler - Trane variable speed air system with 3 zones of control - Venmar and Fantech ventilation systems - Sanuvox ultra violet light air purification.... An artists canvas if there ever was one in the trades. The homeowners did a fantastic job having the home insulated with Icynene foam spray- one of the best long term investments you can make in construction ( second only to hiring Orchard Valley for the HVAC). The awards from both sources makes this home comfort system one of the best yet! Thanks Caleb and Lynn !

Another great year for the Berkshires. This home was judged in the hardest category due to the nature of construction ( three buildings being conditioned put the systems into the 6000 sq ft and larger design criteria ). Even with this "handicap" we walked away with a runner up and 3rd place award in two judging competitions.
If there ever was an award winner for "greatest view" , this one certainly takes the prize. The views of the Berkshires and distant Catskill Mountains is unbelievable. What a great project to participate in. The builder, John Cromwell, has been a trusted associate for the past decade ( This was my 5th home for John and Company) with another in progress as I am writing this blog.
This project featured an art studio building heated with a radiant floor system driven by a Weil Mclain Ultra gas boiler, a guest house featuring a Trane gas furnace with 3 zones of conditioned air, and the main dwelling using another Ultra gas boiler to drive a radiant floor system and Trane variable speed (6 zone) hydro-air heating / cooling system. This was a very complex assembly that keeps the comfort as amazing as the views. Thanks Kate and Gil !!

Orchard Valley Heating and Cooling has been presented with two national design / installation awards this past year! A Radiant Panel Association System Showcase award and most recently, a Contracting Business magazine "Quality Home Comfort Award" for a radiant / hydro-air residence in Heath Mass. This remarkable home was designed by Austin Design of Colrain MASS (413-624-9669) and features an amazing indoor lap pool. Take a look at the awards page for more info.
